How Smart Farmers See It
“Thank you for your visit, recommendations and the research on the ex maize block. I have been very impressed with the fantastic support and the very high level of service from the Smart Forage Team with regard to our crop seed and chemical requirements this autumn. Simon, to you personally, thank you very much, I appreciate the ongoing interest and on-farm support. Please pass on my thanks to the rest of your team.”

“When I’m cropping, I want to talk to someone more than just the boys behind the counter… you’re the only guys that come to me with all the knowledge, and set it out clearly on a piece of paper – it saves me having to know it all. You’ve done everything I wanted you to do!”

“I find Smart of Gisborne, the best farming service firm that I deal with. Firstly, they are a family firm with the the brothers Tim and Simon Lewis the main drivers. They give individual attention and take that personal interest in the services they provide – that is to be treasured in these days of being just numbers. For me, they and their staff have built up a very good understanding of my farm, of where I want to go in my development programme, and where I want to finally get in my pasture renewal.
I have found their advice in my fodder crop programme excellent, with suggestions that could be tried that have been gleaned from other farmers and from researchers and seed companies. They have taken a lot of the legwork and time out research for me. I have always found their advice to be very good. When wanting to know what agri chemicals would be best for my needs, they are just a phone call away. I will continue to use them as they are prompt, reliable, and take that extra interest in me and what I am doing.”

“Autumn 2007, I said to the Smart guys, sell me - but don't tell me - all the latest pasture species hype that will change my mind from what I've sown in the past – and they just gave me what I asked for.
Autumn 2008, I asked for the same and put in more. These guys had picked out the best programme to suit my case - it was amazing, an overnight graze would lift milk by 1.5 to 2 litres per cow! With the Smart Brassica Blend crop in the ground over summer, we grazed in January to the end of February and production was held at 12% ahead of the previous season!
Autumn 2009 I have sown more of their pasture blend again! I'm extremely satisfied with Smart and see no reason to change.”
